Unraveling the Effect of Kraft and Organosolv Processes on the Physicochemical Properties and Thermal Stability of Cellulose and Its Microcrystals Produced from Eucalyptus Globulus

Eucalyptus Globulus (EG) is a virtually untapped forest source that belongs to the hardwood family. The objective of this research understand effect two different isolation techniques, i.e., kraft and organosolv procedures, followed by either acidified sodium chlorite or alkaline hydrogen peroxide treatment on properties cellulose microcrystalline (MCC) derived from EG. MCC samples were successfully prepared via acid hydrolysis. A comparative study was carried out extracted fibers through deep characterizations lignocellulosic content, functional groups, crystallinity, thermal properties, surface morphology. detailed analyses exhibited using various approaches are similar those commercial MCC. It revealed acidic bleaching provides purest with good features, where obtained has glucose content more than 97% degradation temperature around 343 °C. present work new insight into extraction procedures EG-MCC; these expected be used in industrial applications such as biorefinery, dietary food, packaging, films, reinforcement polymer matrices.
